This prevents the waste ballast and mud from fouling the track and railway station, thereby protecting the environment and eliminating manual clean-up. In addition, one or more such machines can be operated synchronously as a team with ballast cleaning machines or formation rehabilitation machines to supply new ballast through overhaul or maintenance operations. It can also transport new ballast to the incident site during a railway rescue operation, to rapidly feed new ballast into the track bed.
